The evening will involve a short introduction to Godly Play, an opportunity to experience the Holy Family story and wondering questions for yourself followed by a chance to work in groups to learn and practice the story.   If you are able to, please bring your own nativity set. Make sure you have Mary Joseph, Baby Jesus, shepherd, sheep, donkey, cow and three kings, any size will do).  The evening will end with a chance to see the Advent 1-4 story and experience the wondering questions for yourself.

Godly Play Study Day

17th May 2011 9.30-3pm with Rebecca Nye Consultant in Children’s Spirituality at Cambridge University.

We had a fantastic day with Rebecca learning the principles underlying Godly Play practice including creating sacred space and supporting children’s spirituality.  Rebecca presented some GP and used the SPIRIT framework to identify how its different aspects affect children’s spiritual experience, not just in GP sessions but in their general approaches to children’s work.

Godly Play lecture

Godly Play UK was launched on 6th December 2007 and a lecture is given on that date each year to explore an aspect of childhood. The 2009 lecture (the 3rd Godly play lecture) was given by John Pridmore and he took The Child on the Shore  as his theme. There are some fascinating parallels between children’s fascination with beaches and Jesus’ activity on the shores of Galilee.
