My name is Katherine Lyddon and I’m the Children’s Work Adviser for this Diocese.

I still find it incredible that I get paid to focus on my two passions: children and Jesus!

My KEY PURPOSE is to inspire, encourage and resource the creative development of mission and ministry amongst children (0-11 year olds) in the Diocese of Exeter.

I’m here to help, encourage and support everyone and anyone working with 0-11s under a church banner. My background is 8 years in Primary teaching of various ages, in various places, in the UK as well as Uganda and China. I’ve always loved doing assemblies and our Sunday church group ‘Kingzkids’. I’ve also been involved in Holiday Clubs and CPAS summer camps for a number of years. I love singing and playing instruments. I also love eating, especially chocolate and spending time with folk over coffee or a meal is my idea of heaven!

As I travel around Devon, I’m so excited by what I see and hear happening amongst children.  I long for all children to know they are uniquely designed by a loving God who went to incredible lengths so that we can be friends with him.

I’m also passionate that we help children within our church family recognise their own gifts and abilities and release them to build up the church and reach out to their communities.  Children’s work is such an exciting ministry to be part of.  God is definitely working and moving and it’s such a privilege to be on his winning team isn’t it?

*Support – I’m here to offer you a sounding board, listening ear and encouragement to anyone in your Mission Community working with children. I’m also involved in local networks so we can share best practise and support one another in this crucial ministry.

*Training – On everything and anything!  If I can’t offer it myself, I’ll try and find someone who can.  I’ll also pass on information about training happening in other places that you might like to join in with.

*Advice – On what you’re already doing or on what you’d like to do next.

*Resources – Over 500 books, CDs, DVDs on all sorts of topics including All-Age worship, Holiday Clubs, Music DVDs, Children and the church.

*Networking – And sharing best practise.  Let me know what your church is up to so that others can visit you and vice-versa.
